Age and education
Those aspirants who are aged between 17 and 21 years can apply for SSR entry. They are essentially required to be class 12th pass with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects while Chemistry or Biology as optional ones.
This is the first step leading you towards India Navy. Passing this test is necessary to move ahead for further assessment. The test comprises of four sections to be completed within one hour. Passing separately in each section along with the passing in aggregate is essential for the aspirants.
Physical Fitness test
This test judges you on basis of physical standards set by Indian Navy. Here you will have to prove your physical strength and stamina by running a distance of 1.6 km in 7 minutes and doing 20 squats with 10 pushups.
This is the final and most essential step of selection as SSR in Sailor entry. A team of Navy authorized military doctors is entrusted with duty to conduct this test. It involves your complete medical checkup to ensure that you are not suffering from any disease or deformity. Only those candidates are admissible into Indian Navy who possesses minimum height of 157 cm with relative weight. The visual standards and physical health of every candidate must be commensurate with guidelines laid down by Navy.
If you enter through SSR entry, you will be imparted a basic training of 24 months on INS Chilka followed by professional training spanning for 24 months at any naval establishment as per trade allotted to you.
Notification of Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR) Vacancy
Notification is issued twice in a year with name of Batch 01/Year and 02/year. Application filling process is available online as well as offline (through paper form).
