However, for commissioning into SSC, no written examination is being held. Instead, the selection depends upon the merit determined after short listing of candidates on parameters set by Naval Headquarters and Directorate of Manpower Planning & Recruitment.
For recruitment into Indian Navy, you need to possess requisite educational qualifications obtained from a recognized board/ university. The documents like degree and mark sheets must be submitted only in a prescribed format as per notification. No relaxations are allowed on this count and it also requires candidates to possess physical/ mental fitness as per the set standards. You should also have proficiency in swimming and always keenly participated in extra-curricular activities.
There are few branches within the Indian Navy where women candidates are also granted commission under SSC. These include Naval Architect, Logistics, Law, Aviation (Observer), ATC, as well as Education Branches. Permanent commission is granted in fields like Law, Education, and Naval Architect as per approval given by the government.
