Job hunting for a lucrative career can take potential contenders to deep blue seas, donning the challenging role as an officer in Indian Navy. This career option is rewarding and challenging at the same time. There are numerous ways of joining Indian Navy. Notifications for them are advertised in Employment News and other leading newspapers. There are some courses where entry is granted upon succeeding written exams conducted by UPSC and some other courses in which entry will be subjected to performance of aspirants in merit and Navy Selection Board interview.
For the upcoming calendar year of 2014-15 also, notifications will be shortly released to apply for the following courses:
NDA/NA Entry through UPSC:
Unmarried men of India who are 16 ½ to 19 years are eligible to apply for 10+2 Naval Academy entry. They must have completed their studies at 10+2 level with Physics and Mathematics. For the exams conducted twice every year, notifications will come out in October-November and April-May. Tentative conduct of exams is expected to be in April-May and September-October of coming year for these respective notifications.
CDS Entry Scheme through UPSC:
This scheme is an excellent opportunity for graduates to join Indian Navy. Indian men in age group of 19 to 22 years are eligible to apply for this entry. They should have completed B. Sc. by opting Physics or Mathematics as subjects or must possess an engineering degree. August and March 2014 are tentative months for publishing of notification by UPSC. Examination for this entry will be held in February and August 2015.
10+2 B Tech Entry course of Indian Navy:
Candidates in the age bracket of 16 ½ to 19 years may apply for Officer Rank in Indian Navy through this scheme. As for educational criteria, they must have passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics scoring at least 70% marks in aggregate. It gives entry into engineering branch of Indian Navy. While notification for this entry scheme will appear in December- January 2014, course is scheduled to commence from July 2015.
University Entry Scheme (UES):
This is a Short Service Commission entry into Indian Navy intended for young and unmarried Indian men. All aspirants in final year or pre final year of engineering in trades including Mechanical, Marine, Aeronautical, Architecture, Naval Architecture, Automobile, Telecommunication, Industrial & Production, Civil, Metallurgy, Electrical, Instrumentation & Communication, Power Electronics, Instrumentation, and Control are eligible to apply for this scheme. Age requirements are 19 ½ – 24 for Pre final students and 19 – 24 for final year students. Notification for course commencing in July 2015 will be published in June 2014 under this scheme.
Indian Navy SSC Executive and Technical branch:
This entry scheme offers a career opportunity to Indian men and women to join these prestigious forces in branches including general services, Information technology, hydro cadre, technical and naval architecture. Those between 19 ½ to 25 years in age with relevant engineering degree only should apply for this scheme of Short Service Commission in Indian Navy. This course commencing from July 2015 will be advertised in June-July 2014.
