CDS Exam Pattern for Short Service Commission and Permanent commission

The aspirants can opt short and regular service entry course while appearing for the CDS Examination. A final merit list will be declared which is based on written test score and performance in the SSB. The selected potential aspirants are required to go through rigorous training at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Indian Military Academy (IMA), Air Force Academy (AFA) and the Officers Training Academy (OTA), Chennai.

The aspirants who join the IMA, INA or AFA will be allotted a Permanent commission and the cadets who passes out from OTA will get Short Service Commission.

You should prepare for three papers (English, General Knowledge and Maths) of  100 marks and two hours duration if you want to join the permanent commission and two papers (English and General Knowledge) if you want to join the short service commission. The willing candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in any stream from a recognized Institute. If any aspirants interested to apply for technical job then they must have an Engineer’s Degree from a recognized university.
