The work profile as an Artificer apprentice is somewhat technical in nature and hence, you are required to possess relevant eligibilities in order to apply for the same. Only unmarried men of India are allowed for application. However, you may be a resident Indian, subject of Nepal or the Gorkha to apply.

Age and Educational standards

As far as age is concerned, this opening is meant only for the youth of India. Therefore, anyone in the age bracket of 17 to 20 years is eligible for this post. Educationally, the aspirant must be 12th pass having studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.

Passing the written test

The first test to be passed to join Indian Navy as AA is conducted at Navy authorized centers. It includes four sections which must be passed by you in order to crack this test. Those successful only will be called for PFT and Medical Examination.

Physical standards

As Sailor in AA trade, you will be handling some tough jobs where your physical fitness will be tested time and again. Navy requires you to be completely fit and energetic to take up any task with great zeal. As such, this mandatory test called Physical Fitness Test (PFT) comprises running for 1.6 km within 7 minutes, 20 squats, and 10 pushups. It is to ascertain your stamina to deliver best results even under trying conditions.

Medical standards

This is equally significant and again a compulsory test to qualify for Sailor entry. With minimum height of 157 cm and a proportional weight, you need to have a medically sound body free from any ailments or deformities. To check whether you possess these medical standards as prescribed by Indian Navy, you will be tested by a team of military doctors at the center where you will be called upon.

Training phase

Thrill of job as Sailor begins from the training period. There is initial 9 weeks training at INS Chilka to be followed by sea training spanning for 8 weeks. Then there will be four years training at naval training institutes in the trade allocated to you.
